An Obscure X-Men Comic Offered a Dark Hint into Storm's Past (Or, Claremont Ain't Workin ' on Your Time)

A dark moment from Storm's past was unveiled in an obscure X-Men story by Chris Claremont, and this week I detail how he didn't pay the idea off until almost eight years later. Also, this page from Special Edition X-Men was referenced in the text of my article, but didn't seem to survive the final edit...

  1. No mention in the article of Uncanny X-Men 150. That would have been published before the "X-Men Special Edition," and is thus an earlier reference to Storm having once killed someone with a knife. Including the details that she did so "as a child," and in order to save her life. Those are more details than are offered up in the Special Edition backup story, and show that Claremont had the scenario depicted in issue 267 worked out in his head, even earlier than the article suggests ... a full year earlier, at least. (Cover date on X-Men 150 is September of 1981, whereas the cover date for the X-Men special edition is February of 1983.)
