Hamm was clearly interested in establishing lore about the 5 raven statues and "The Maltese Falcon" is the big influence, here, but everything else seems like uninspired, TV series plotting. Live-action takes on Robin seem to prefer him being a young adult, then get lazy and ignore developing this relationship - which would've now had a completely different origin - any further.
